This is just a quick post to tell you about my weekend. I went with my daughter and her family for a simple weekend getaway. We went down to San Antonio to take my granddaughter to Fiesta Texas.

We were meeting my other daughter and her family there. So when they were selecting a hotel for Saturday night, the main thing they were looking for was the location of the hotel, they wanted the hotel to be as close as possible to the theme park. We knew we’d be tired when we came out of the park that night and did not want to drive very far to get back to the hotel. Criteria of the hotel were then, of course, close proximity, reasonable rates, reputable chain/name if possible and hopefully a good rating. My daughter found a Home2 Suites by Hilton that was half a mile from Fiesta Texas.
We had never stayed in a Home2 Suites by Hilton, so we hadn’t really given much thought to what we even expected, but when we walked into the lobby to check-in we were pleased and the minute we stepped into our room we were impressed. We just needed a room with 2 queen size beds, but as the name implies, it was a suite. We didn’t need a suite, however, my daughter booked the room because of the location and reasonable rates. The hotel and room were immaculate! I cannot begin to say enough good things about this hotel. When we walked into the room, it was already cool, with the thermostat readily accessible for us to adjust to our liking. The room was spacious and well laid out. The kitchenette included a full-size refrigerator, not just a mini-fridge! Dishes, silverware, bowls, cups, and a dishwasher were also available. The hot water heated up instantly and remained very hot throughout all of our showers. The shower also included shower gel and shampoo dispensers on the wall. More than enough towels were stocked and ready in the room, we did not have to call down to request anything extra, and there was not one thing to complain about during our stay.
I normally do not sleep well when away from home, and not in my own bed. However, that night as I laid down and put my head on the pillow, I remember the clean crisp smell of the sheets, and how comfortable I felt without having to toss and turn to find the most relaxing spot. I simply laid down, inhaled that clean smell and drifted off to a wonderful night’s rest.
The next morning, breakfast was served from 6am-10am, and it was a full selection breakfast including choices of waffles, eggs, breakfast sandwiches of several varieties, cereal, oatmeal, several kinds of juice, toast, milk and excellent coffee. The staff was all very pleasant and helpful throughout our visit. The pool opened by 10 am and check-out was not until noon, so my granddaughter had time to swim before we were checking out. The pool area was very nice also, with a grilling area available with tables and outside bathroom.
We are the type of family that normally looks at the hotel as just a place to sleep when we travel, it’s not usually part of the experience, just a decent room to shower and sleep, that’s all it is to us. This time, our experience at Home2 Suites by Hilton changed our whole perception and made our short weekend getaway 100% more enjoyable!! We’ve decided that in the future, whenever we travel and stay overnight, we will be staying in a Home2 Suites every time if at all possible!!!
Before this weekend getaway, I was NOT an affiliate with Hilton, and I first wrote this blog post while not being an affiliate associate, I only just now started my affiliation to advertise for the company because of the impression the hotel chain made upon me during our very first stay.
until next time,
