As of the date of this post, we are planning our next family getaway to be sometime in October for Fright-fest at Six Flags in Arlington. We purchase memberships to Six Flags every year, which is much like season passes, but has a few more perks, so we can go as many times as we want all year long. Arlington is about an hour and a half drive from us and we go many times just for the day, but my granddaughter does not enjoy fright-fest after dark as her parents do! This year we plan on making it a weekend getaway and staying a couple of nights. We will let my granddaughter enjoy the park, rides, and attractions during the day, then she and I will go back to the hotel while her parents go and enjoy the after-dark attractions.
You may not know about Fright-fest at Six Flags, so let me tell you a little about it. Fright Fest is back for select days September 21-November 3 at Six Flags Over Texas. Voted the Best Theme Park Halloween Event in the state of Texas by USA TODAY readers, the theme park will change to have 20 chilling attractions, including four new ones, that will give scares not normally there. Enjoy thrills and activities for the entire family during the day, then come back for an evening of thrills and terror after dark. There will be haunted houses and shows performed as well. We have already been planning and locating one of our favorite hotels near our destination!
What have you got planned for quick getaways? I love hearing about other families’ trips and plans to get away from dull everyday routines! My family has always enjoyed doing something around the time of Halloween. Fall seems to be a favorite time of year for our family, after the exhausting heat of our Texas summers.
I feel very fortunate that where we call home is centrally located in Texas, and we have many great places within just a 1-2 hour drive with tons of great things for the family to enjoy. Drive just 3-4 hours and the list of things expands so much that you can have a great vacation and not want to go home for a week or more!
until next time,
